Aloe Smoothie Recipe for Heartburn Relief

It is Women’s Health Month – a time for women to make their own health needs a priority. Many women experience heartburn, and for those who do, natural remedies like aloe vera juice can often help.

Aloe vera juice is extracted from the outer lining of the plant’s leaves. It can ease reflux symptoms by coating the esophagus and preventing irritation from stomach acid. Aloe vera not only eases pain and inflammation, but it also promotes cell regeneration and aids in healing.

This Soothing Aloe Smoothie is an easy way to use aloe vera juice to ease heartburn pain. Besides the soothing aloe, the bananas and spinach in the smoothie are alkaline ingredients that won’t exacerbate acid reflux. Drink the smoothie 20 minutes before a meal as a preventative or with the onset of symptoms.

Note to women: Use this remedy with caution. Do not ingest aloe vera if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Aloe Smoothie Ingredients (two 8 ounce servings):

• ½ cup cold aloe vera juice (with pulp) 
• 1 ¼ cup ripe banana, sliced
• ⅓ cup spinach, roughly chopped
• 10-12 ice cubes

Directions:

1) Place all ingredients into a blender and mix well. Pour into 2 small cups and enjoy!
